Tattoo Removal Process

The process begins with a complimentary consultation where we assess the size of your tattoo, skin tone and the color and depth of the ink. We'll then determine the number of treatments needed and the cost per treatment.

The laser used for the tattoo removal produces short pulses of intense light that pass through the top layers of skin and are absorbed by the tattoo pigment below. The laser blasts the ink and causes the tattoo pigment to break apart into small particles. After the treatment is when your body really goes to work. Scavenger cells attack the ink particles and absorb them so they are removed by the body's own immune system.

During the procedure, a cooling air jet is utilized that blows cold air directly on your skin to provide maximum comfort throughout the short procedure. Each session is usually less than a minute and often less than 30 seconds.

The process is not immediate. Typical treatment schedules are anywhere from 5 - 12 treatments with 6 weeks between each appointment. Every procedure fragments the ink a little bit more by penetrating deeper into the skin. We allow time between procedures so your body can naturally remove the pigment.

Before first treatment

Different ink colors are affected differently by the laser, so certain areas will fade quicker than others. But you should see significant affect after your first treatment.

After first treatment

Darker inks like black will begin fading first. Followed by the brighter blues and reds, which will also begin lightening noticeably.

Type of laser

Now keep in mind, the laser is a powerful instrument. We use Astanza laser machines. Thats why its important to have a trained medical staff of doctors to administer and oversea the entire process.

The Doctors at Erase the Ink MD will be with you during every session to inspect the area and ensure everything is perfect.
